The "Fashionably Late" series pays tribute to bygone icons & artists with a satirical poke at celebrity obsession and the sensationalism of death. Popular culture has crafted shimmering disembodied hero brands which we subscribe to as some kind of self-professed extensions of our identity. Death merely becomes an ironic stepping stone to pop immortality.
This set commemorates the members of the "27 Club". Four of the first 5 members of the "27 Club" (Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, & Jim Morrison respectively) died within 2 years of each other to the day, between 7/3/1969-7/3/1971, all at age 27 years, thus establishing the exclusive club. After it's inception, blues master Robert Johnson was regarded as it's founding member.
